Senior housing planned adjacent to Oriole Way Apartments ELLSWORTH — In a busy month for the city Code Enforcement Department, 29 building permits were issued in May for construction projects ranging from a 128-square-foot chicken coop to two $400,000 new residential homes. But by far, the largest project greenlighted to touch digger to dirt is new housing behind the Ellsworth Shopping Plaza. The first of the two-phase Foster Street Apartments project will bring 29 units of affordable senior housing in a three-story building adjacent to the Oriole Way Apartments. The project is spearheaded by DC PreDevelopment LLC, which constructed the Oriole Way Apartments, and first came before the Planning Board in November of 2019. At that time, Kevin Bunker, a founder of DC PreDevelopment LLC, said, “We had a good experience here so we’re looking to come back and build some more housing.” Twenty-one months later, construction will begin.
