Seaweed expansion

Research being carried out by Arramara in Co Galway.
Seaweed is a topic of growing interest for farmers, given its potential role as a feed additive to reduce methane emissions from the national herd.
David Shortall, whom readers may know from Quinns of Baltinglass, has taken up the post of market development manager at Arramara, a company which harvests seaweed and manufactures products for human, animal and plant use. The seaweed products claim to increase feed efficiency, reduce stress and reduce methane emissions in animals.
With the Minister for Agriculture recently highlighting methane emissions from the national herd, this will no doubt be a busy new role.
