School district postpones in-person learning until teachers are eligible for COVID vaccine
Updated Jan 27, 2021;
Just five days before a Middlesex County school district was set to have students and staff back in the classroom after being kept out by the coronavirus pandemic, a last-minute announcement canceled the return.
Teachers, students and staff at Middlesex Borough school district were scheduled to return to the classroom as part of a hybrid model Monday morning, but district administration decided to postpone the return due to teachers’ concerns that they get vaccinated before coming back, said district Superintendent Frederick Williams.
After notifying district parents Wednesday that there would be changes in the district’s re-entry plan, the school board and administration announced the school district would not be returning to the classroom Monday and called a special board meeting to discuss the change, Williams said.
