The School Building Authority, on April 10, 2024, approved $87 million for 18 school construction projects in counties across West Virginia. The approval comes as the U.S. Department of Education has threatened to take back $465 million in COVID-19 relief funds that were provided to West Virginia for the state's failure to maintain a level of education funding relative to overall state spending as required by federal rules.
