Salisbury captured the 2021 Division III women's lacrosse championship, edging NESCAC power Tufts, 14-13, on Sunday evening in Salem, Va. The win marked the Seagulls' fourth NCAA title in 12 years.
Tufts' Catherine Lawless led all scorers with four goals, but Salisbury's balanced offensive unit saw six different players produce a multi-goal game. Julia Talbert, Riley Hartman, Delaney Hill, Lauren Valenti and Camryn Pepper (1A) all led the way with two goals apiece.
A back-and-forth affair, Salisbury jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Tufts stormed back. The Jumbos and the Seagulls entered the half tied at 6-all, but Salisbury stormed out of the break on a 5-2 run.
