Safety Of Pilots And Small Aircraft At Risk With Rolling Clo

Kāpiti, 15 December 2020 - Rolling
closures at Kāpiti Coast Airport will impact the safety of
pilots and small aircraft travelling New Zealand who rely on
the airport for safe harbour in poor weather and other
events when travelling between the North and South
Islands.
Steve Brown, President of the Aircraft Owners
and Pilots Association of NZ (AOPANZ) says the rolling
closures raise unintended safety concerns and will impact
pilots transiting through Cook Strait who use Omaka in
Blenheim and Kāpiti Airport in Paraparaumu as the staging
points for their travel around NZ.
