Just show us down. Through their 3 children and leave this in the. So i dont know form to talk to you or the powerful seeing that and seeing that young people can feel the effect that really just showed me that across issues across spaces across the nation we need young people to be able to stand up and actually make their voices heard because they have an impact and they have a real measurable. As again. This is. Really. Minutes because there. Is a. I. Have the father big brother out there on the figure that they use to voice that they might not be getting in but one like the other kids and the of those. Acrobat ive. Spent a lot of a lot of my time with the young people whether its taken to go ego on the play basketball the concert my house they play games they also i educate them and you know bring them together around issues that are affecting them in their community. Which out empower them to take to speak at one of these events to run on these events to be a father marges and just showing them that they are capable of. Starting their own movement. Ah. Ah ah. Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah. Ah ah ah indication. There. Are taken say. There definitely connected its the size of the same coin i think in order for you to see real change there it takes build in their relationship there are levels of relationship that they have to occur where youre trying to make make real change so its one thing for us. To be on the ground be grassroots be on the field but theres no mandate thats helping us to do those things so i think having the right people who have those connections you need any you need thats also getting the folks who actually in the field who are living this on every day this is trying to make a difference and the folks who are able to reach those in the power that have the power to write laws to to give resources to send funds to these committees that. Good afternoon everybody so before we get started on the road noticing how the young people behind me i wear red sable crossed a mouse with words on it and just to show that represents either a powerful. Quote of a loved one that they lost to gun violence while while the fight. 2 year old dk lydias berry was kill mazed 152060 you see was my friend so many 2 year old edward james was killed on april 15th 2009 saying he was my brother. 900 delmonte johns was killed on such overfilled 28 c. It was my brother. Losing dominance it was a breaking point. For me he was a young person we lost him because my city. I didnt know how to move forward but the young people or resilient they knew he was someone who wanted to make a difference and they didnt let that death go and vague. Yeah reading this one baby. So. Hes here with me i guess you dont know. Yet. How to mentally prepare myself. Mentally really prepare myself because you know you see in like i hear you know a certain look they. No sir thank you thats absurd. This bench is one of thousands and thousands of benches of thousands and thousands of years some bench as foam logs or ledges of slate or edges straight from manufacturers of all kinds of people come to convene all remember or get a new system settle rest reset. This bench is somewhere on the eastern seaboard of the United States and there. Is attention brought by every day and theyre asked. To one day actually need and hear the most beautiful old poetry ever heard. Thats right thats today over 7th 2019. I saw the wall street journal on a bench left behind by an investment banker. At night a woman experiencing homelessness used the news as her pillow in a blanket. She spread the business tax sections across her legs politics across her breasts. She adjusted her head on life in the arts and used the bench itself as a bed sized for a queen. I saw full life living death her dying breath alive in her chest. An open orbit. The shoeman warning where. A body left behind. An untold obituary. A journal. And unrecorded life. On a bench. See the map. You see where we are. There. Where is the rescue mission. That sat now r. C. M. P. Joan 6 here. Ready. Going to come up on the back of it right now. Count the floors count 1234 were on the 4th floor which one you think is our room. Over there. L. Look forward to talking to you all that technology should work for people. I think theyre going to be chief justice and then we went through all the countries lets idea the right to go to his country he said if we give them everything slipped into fast. This country. This is what we dont understand how we are poor in such im content. To let us into the ones at the same time. Noticing im going to. The soon to run off with a similar symbol john a good one. Because. Join me every thursday on the alex simon show and ill be speaking to guest on the world of politics sports business im show business ill see you then. Im going to. Pay were almost there youre a member this. Hire i love that are you. Here it is. So this is where we used to live at the Union Rescue Mission this is the front door you know we stayed here 8 months. At 1st there were so many families women and children here that we stayed in the day room which is basically like a large dining room large cafeteria style setting one only im sure ours looks like a gymnasium. But we had air mattresses and slept on the floor for the 1st couple of months. From september until december and then in december we were placed into a room and because my daughter was with me and not my side it was just me and one child i was sharing a room with 4 other mothers who all had one child with them at the time. I did meet jackie hope of us go. To adelaide every often move. This is about 75 miles 80 miles from our home but the longest distance is when we do venice and said im on a club that takes at least an hour and 45 minutes to get there. We do this 5 nights of the monday through friday. Monday and skid row in dot com and tuesday its on the road wednesday in South Central l. A. And in venice and santa monica friday is again down the civic center in. Union station in new. Delhi and we have designed a program. In this because some of them that i love they are going to ask them any questions dont judge them thats muddy waters and how they ended up being on the street its not our job to judge them. Nobody likes to be a speed sleeping on the payments with air traffic running that own in a totally unsanitary conditions that snowboarders wish to be that way. Theres a 1000000 reasons why people become homeless its not always Mental Illness and its not always drug addiction yes those are true. I think those are 2 reasons that have a really negative connotation so its easy to say only crazy people become homeless and its easy to say only attics and drug users become homeless thats never going to happen to me and my family but the truth is in the United States most people are a paycheck or 2 away their their one unpaid credit card away you know their one payday loan away. Their one unexpected pregnancy away their one job loss away there are so many reasons why you could end up homeless and unable to pay your bills and unable to keep a roof over your head and your familys had. Lots of people leave the foster care system and have nowhere to go you turn 18 years old and you are out thats it you go from having no parents and just a foster family to being on the street all the sudden youre 18 its like youre an adult figure it out. When youre living on the street when you are unsheltered person when you have nowhere else to go you have nothing to look forward to. I really think that i can understand how easy it must be to slip into a drug use and then fall into addiction because if youve just got nothing else good going on in your day and you need something to make you feel good. I cant imagine that theres. You know. I cant imagine. Much else is going to make you feel good at that point when you hit rock bottom its like. It is what it is i dont know south. Park. And the new immigrant coming from india it was where he when he heard forgive me because i was seen by our people of new. York and bothered me here to see these Homeless People who are raised here on here such a wealthy country of the world the wealthiest country in the world. And yet these people are going through trash cans. To survive. The irony that its seconds. And. We have a program or she and i mean we busy to eat the food to park meals to the homeless made out of the odd. Street off most attention. On an average. 150 to 200 odd can use a night. We make it a point and we dont. To have them fall my mind if somebody comes to the truck on those. Mine in my opinion is kind of. Eat human life eat it thats not the idea that we started bit we wanted to give dignity is a big thing with the. Father set up the table and in this water out of the way we can say check out. My life. And my folds the wall and gives as well as. This if something i would like to see the wall and here is the seed mold then where did i give it. To you with enough and. All your stuff. Down down again we might be passing on by a few bucks worth of but if we need. Donations i will be a senator he is. The moment we are what you get is an experience of compassion that confession cannot be tar compassion can only be expedient. And you dont want anyone. Thats priceless. I was basically faced with that situation where the a part manager knew i didnt have any way of paying in mediately. But when i told her i was going to start working and i had family that would cover the rent until then it didnt matter she said. That she knew. I was going to go back to him that shed seen it happen hundreds of times before where. Women claim that theyre being abused and then they run right back to the man that theyre alleging abuse against and she didnt want to deal with that trauma and she thought it was better if i just moved out. The manager gave me a deadline to leave before she filed the eviction people work and so i left. Because i knew it was just going to be that much harder to find an apartment if i had an eviction on my record but the day that i left the apartment. I really i did not have anywhere to go. I had a little bit of money from my aunts and so i went and a hotel room at langley. And i was staying in hotel rooms by myself or like i didnt have enough money and i would see my r. And i would try to. Like. Like i had packed up and put everything into storage but i didnt really know how its going to be this storage bill and how many going to pay. You know to keep the kids in their toys and things like that and so i started selling things out of the storage unit to keep the storage unit and then going and selling blood. I was working. Doing online transcription. So that was piece rate it was very very small sums of money i might work all day and make you know 15. 00 i had never been on welfare before i had never been on assistance. Ive had unemployment when i had lost jobs in the past but i had never gotten stamps i had never gotten any. And to go from. Having had a job since i was 13 years old to being in a motel wondering how im going to get 40. 00 to find somewhere for me and my kids to sleep it was like an impossible. I just had no comprehension of how do i get to a homeless shelter. So that whole process was may 15th 2700. 00 illusions and Domestic Violence shelter was alive or. So all those months were in motel rooms or sequel of all. Human history has always seen continuous war of a story but in recent years it seems to have become more intense platforming is no common practice and public scrutiny of the future where do we all stand on the battlefield of belief. If youre. Just let. Us come the actual moment to ask him should ask for the lost of money and. They are the right person who should. Commission. Brits who just shoot on disk in the. Asian community not. Least your mom. You know your new car so sit on the opening much to the mama its just an act ya know. What weve got to do is identify the threats that we have its crazy confrontation let it be an arms race in his office very dramatic to follow through the only really im going to resist i dont see how that strategy will be successful very critical guy time to sit down and talk. A. Little simple spiros mean sure when you read all of those lists nissho to show you just what that also has been. But so far were short in the months to roll. Will improve. It and we. Will get that in the us those days i need some i would put in that would know more than the buddhists. To protest against a new security bill critics say the legislation will make it harder to prosecute. Some of the we. Agreed to Work Together to find out of combining them. Also we visited a center this ready to produce the russian show. Me different feel if you think this particular case is. Good
