in moscow and you're watching r.t. international live from our studio with me. welcome to the program a leaked document seems to now cast doubt on the world chemical weapons watchdog final report into a deadly incident in syrian city of duma last year it contradicts the official conclusion that toxic cylinders were dropped from the air which western governments used as evidence to blame the syrian government for the attack our senior correspondent is across all the developed development now more on what's the o.p.c. being accused of here. this. document from the. it was one of the documents foreign didn't little. the entirely emitted from the report and. it's findings fly in the face of the u.p.c. w.'s final report on the chemical incident in duma the engineers the specialists that put together this little sub report they were thorough they accounted for almost everything that they could account for for example the canisters themselves the alleged chlorine canisters their weight their structure how old they were what they looked like their condition after having you know blasted through a roof fall into into a room release the can with the simulated everything the speeds they even looked at the concrete ceilings the rebuys they simulate their physical properties their structures how they could have been what they could have been what shape they could have got into you know absolutely everything that they could and then they looked at 2 locations where this alleged chemical incident happened at the 1st location which they call location to the found that the kava stuff when it fell the impact crater the left behind was inconsistent with what they could model so they found the crater itself doesn't look like it was caused by a falling canister rather it looks like it was caused by a prior later incident in which a high explosive shell it could have been a rocket shell not deliver a shell landed and blew a hole through the roof because it looks similar to other holes nearby and the way that the steel supports the rebars were bent indicates that a high explosive was used when the canister fell according to the simulations there is new with that it could have bent the steel supports the way it did they also found that. the indents on the canisters do match the crater so when it fell through through the roof it had to penetrate the concrete roof. the steel supports the rebars and then it had to land inside what they found is the markings on both the steel supports and the canister was inconsistent so mutually inconsistent meaning that it couldn't have fallen through that through that specific hole which indicates that somebody planted the canister there valid as their conclusion at the end with regards the location to location for they used all the c. modeling all the same evidence and they found that the canister couldn't have fit through the impact crater the 2nd impact crater with the nozzle with the nozzle still intact so even if it had been protected the nozzle should have been shorn off she should have been destroyed during the initial fall they also found that this is the famous picture of the canister lying on the bed they also found that because of the angle that the canister hit the roof because of the crater it allegedly left there is no way that the canister could have been balanced and dented up on the bed because of the meant and because of other obstacles in the way and basically their ultimate conclusion at the end of all of this all of this was we've got it. observations of the scene of the 2 locations together with subsequent analysis suggests that there is a higher probability that both cylinders were money placed it there is $2.00 locations rather than being delivered from aircraft now one would think there was a pretty interesting conclusions that they've drawn conclusions that fly in the face of the narrative that was stablished in the immediate media hours after after this incident became public after the 1st week the 1st scenes from from a hospital where people were being treated a narrative that was later used to launch an armada of cruise missiles at syria. the b.c. w. has admitted that certain documents have been leaked allegedly these very documents with talking about now but it's unclear whether the people who put it together were staff members of the u.p.c. w. or as the u.p.c. w. often does outside contractors special is that it has to look at certain things that it isn't exactly professional that. they've offered very little comment on on the leak itself and about its contents especially exactly one week ago we sent the request for a comment for a statement and there's been absolute silence from the p.c. w. there's been no comment no nothing on you know an incredibly important leak if it's if it's true because it really does fly in the face of the narrative that was established nevertheless the stories now gaining traction so we should expect a comment sooner or later have to wait and see what they come up with thanks for the update and explanation for. professor piers robinson a here's a leading member of a british academic research group unserious says the episode up its response to the leak is significant. it's very important that you easy w. not dinara eat dirt this engineering report comes movingly o.p.c. w. not denying that what they're trying to do is to create all break go in between this engineering report and investigation and that as we make clear and know that there is no good reason to accept what they're saying it close but only the bottom line in the us is that the document has been passed to us we have confirmation from multiple sources which clearly shows that there has been an investigation carried out from within the o.p.c. w. an investigation which is not found its way all to not leak into the fire and do not report which came out about a month ago really question our question now is what has been going on within the o.p.c. w. over the course of the last 12 months and why is it the case this document has not found its way into the final o p c w or. shall they criticize what they're calling an unacceptable attack on press freedom in france there's a going that 3 journalists who lit a classified 17 page dossier on these a french weapons in all yemeni civil war could be set to face prosecution and prison time with the latest has shall it depends. the question that's being asked now is press freedom under attack fronts and that question is being posed not just by journalists but also by human rights activists who are hugely unhappy about this investigation that's going on now back in april we covered a story here an r.t. which was that a number of french outlets had revealed and uncovered a secretive military dossier which was allegedly showing that french weapons sold to saudi arabia will you being used on the front line in yemen a french government has always denied it but this dossier has said that the french government was made aware of this fact now as a result of that an investigation was launched by the domestic intelligence services here in france and 3 journalists were hauled in as part of that investigation to be questioned about their sources and some say to be pressurised to reveal who their sources were which is of course is something we as journalists considered to be absolutely sacred well our assistant channel r.t. france has actually been speaking to one of those journalists from disclose who is now under investigation of cordless phone we were very surprised that we were summoned because it's unusual for journalists to be treated in this way we were summoned yesterday morning for disclosing national defense secrets we were told from the beginning that we were not there is journalists and the case would be decoupled from our role as journalists i think needs to be supported by as many people as possible this is not an isolated case there would be many documented instances of intimidation especially during rallies. so why was this revelation so controversial not just because the french government according to that dossier knew that these weapons were being used by saudi arabia on the frontline in yemen it also showed how they were being used and suggested that french ships were actually being used to blockade yemeni ports which meant that much needed medication and to monetary assistance into. the food was not getting to the civilians who are being hit by this war now this what's been going on since 2014 it's been described by the un as the worst manmade humanitarian disaster it's seen thousands of people killed and millions of people pushed towards the brink of starvation and human rights organizations have said that in june this should be doing this kind of work this should be revealing things like this that are going on in governments the undersigned n.g.o.s consider the information unveiled by disclose and its partners to be of essential public interest the threats of prosecution against the 3 journalists constitutes an arm except through press freedom and the protection of journalistic sources the fresh government has repeatedly denied that its weapons that it sells to saudi arabia are being used on the front line in that conflict and even last week we had where surance is from president michel that he had spoken to the government in riyadh and they had once again confirmed that that was not the case but the reality is here on the ground many people aren't seem to be believing that in fact so much so that last week saudi cargo ship was due to pick up arms from the french quarter of last it had to leave because there were protests by people who just don't want any more french weapons to be sold to saudi arabia possibly being used to implicate the country in war crimes. facebook has taken out hundreds of pages in accounts linked to an israeli organization suspected of attempting to disrupt elections across the world the social network behemoths the group spent more than 3 quarters of a $1000000.00 on the facebook and instagram platforms to quote disseminate their content and artificially increase in gate and here's our correspondent in tel aviv . what we know is that this has been happening for years where you have a council mescal waiting ah there is no calls or as. local news outlets and they are either providing blowing information off forming part of a smear campaign regarding candidates who are standing in local elections and part of the tactic they use is to quote so-called and identified sources and leaked information now what we're hearing from facebook is that this has affected countries such as latin america and numerous countries across asia and africa where we centrally the triune swishes have changed the reality on the ground facebook saying that this is an extensive israeli run political influence campaign having said that facebook has not been that forthcoming and that is largely presumably because the relationship between facebook and israel is very close facebook in the past has taken down political advertisement that are considered in distasteful inconvenient by the israeli government the head of the facebook cyber security policy had that had had this to say today removed 265 facebook and instagram accounts facebook pages groups and events involved in coordinated behavior this experience originated in israel and focused on the sun a gold and gold niger and tunisia along with some activity in late in america and some of these things are now some of the pages boasted as many as $2800000.00 followers there were also a series of events that were advertised online but it's not clear whether or not those events actually took place more than 800000 dollars is estimated to have been spent over the past 7 years on these advertisements aimed at deception and a lot of that finds its source in an israeli corporation that's called the archimedes group now we have asked the group for comment but we're still waiting to receive a response from them at the same. time a lot of the people all the organizations involved have concealed the rounded idea into trees now there was a similar case with another israeli organization whose motto was to shape reality it was forced to close its doors after it was implicated in the whole investigation and it was criticized and came under fire for possible involvement in the donald trump presidential election so we need to wait and see how the story itself develops. mass migration into europe is a controversial and divisive topic lawmakers in northern regions of austria come to up with a new initiative that they hope will promote integration the so-called 10 commandments of immigration must be signed by all new comers and commits them to learning german and respecting austrian values the list was proposed by the far right freedom party which is known for its hardline stance on immigration its creator says it's designed to improve integration however while all new arrivals are told to sign it there are no penalties if they do not abide by its rules at the height of the european refugee crisis and 2015 just under 90000 people applied for asylum in the country that's equivalent to about one percent of austria's population in 2018 the government announced it would withdraw from the controversial un global migration pact an agreement between $193.00 countries to cooperate on and monitor international migration well to discuss this further we're joined by independent journalist and then catherine shark senior analyst at the alibi and center for planning and studies thanks both for coming on to the program. will start with you all is silence because as i mentioned before to austria are already required to sign integration agreement all of these 10 commandments a slightly theatrical dramatic over the top one why the need for them. well you can consider that it is dramatizing the shoes but they try to do like the americans do you know microns to america are welcome but they must integrate they do so readily of course in most cases the love of the flag above the national anthem these ideas want to be developed by the austrians but also in many other countries in europe you know many european countries think and have done it of improving their demands on the migrants that have arrived also one more thing as you said since 2015 austria was in the front line welcoming these migrants most of them illegal migrants from slovenia through the balkan brute's you know turkey greece and then the balkans into austria and hungary so they took the lead even with the balkan countries or in the military action to close the border of macedonia and other places i've been there that time on the day our was on the must set there on a great border on this in this little village there were 15000 people crossing mostly young men and most of them were pakistani and afghans i mean what do these people come to do when europe understand that there is an issue that is revealed in the polls is that europeans put migration immigration illegal immigration in the top 3. today for europe yeah catherine looks made his point i need to point out that as i said before one percent of austria's population . it's a small percentage having said that why do you think this list is proving to be so counter controversial they're all no pen penalties for noncompliance and it's also not denying refugees the right to practice their own religion so what's the big deal. it's a good question i think the issue here is that it's targeting specifically the muslim community and i think there is a great sense of stigmatisation incrimination of all together in austria i can understand why it was true i would want to you know to to set up in place certain laws to regulate immigration it's actually it's provocative i could understand as well that the recent issue with this on the credit card is in that issue needs to be addressed i'm not sure that those 10 commandments would actually address anything other than further you need a community that is actually trying to you know to integrate the best it can and that and i think that it's leading the debate. elsewhere on racism issues and on human rights issue so it's a very complicated i think clearly that was passed and i think it's going to backfire in a massive way in this sounds that people will get angry at the wrong issues and he's taking the debate again away from you know combating radicalism combating wahhabi islam and actually trying to find a solution to what is becoming a global problem which is the fact that not radicals have been spread out across the international community and we are looking for ways to crack down on it i really don't feel that these 2 will help in any way shape or form are there again then further al you know people who make them feel that not only are they not welcome but that there's something wrong with them inherently and there's nothing wrong with them and we need to understand you know people have different traditions in and religious belief and that we need to the committed them to a certain extent of course i'm not saying that everyone has to bend over backwards but that being said i don't think that setting a law that criminalizes people's differences is the way to go yeah i mean look catherine is mentioning what the critics are saying actually they're saying that this new initiative has all the hallmarks of racism. even though they're allegedly designed to promote integration what's your response to that i mean she rightly said then you know what is wrong with these people that there's nothing wrong with them is there something wrong with them loose. well in a way it's not racism anyway the real problem is islamize everybody knows you know it's not buddhism it's not orthodox religion or whatever it's lama that creates problems because part of the islamic community of the muslim community. thinks that the west is responsible for many things and that it's the enemy these people come in there is also a problem basically with the fact that the status of women and i'm afraid that it is clearly so with islam that the status of the women who come. is not what it should be in western societies they stay home they cannot go out they don't want the language in most cases we have seen that in most european countries for decades now the women don't learn anything because they can't even read all right they stay home and that has been wanted so there is a problem with polygamy all these issues are in transparency and these 10 commandments you know when they say the children must go to western school learned western values are european values and not the values of the koran we don't want an excuse if you ask the people in austria but also in france belgium spain or anywhere they don't want quranic schools they don't want this of course they can practice their religion in the private sphere no problem but we don't want our societies to get in in the name of multiculturalism an islamic community developing which is anti west and duct is the problem you know we have had these attacks in paris in nice in brussels in many places in europe it's so who is slum which is the problem behind that's what the people are worried with and this law is not stigmatizing or race or anything this is silly it's stigmatizing a wrong way of considering islam and that's really the problem as i said i. children when. the killing ritual killing some things that are not acceptable in our society etc etc so we need to educate them. catherine i mean what what luke is pointing out there actually in his rhetoric is a fear it's a fundamental fear isn't it that that certain nation will austria's proving to have a fear of islam but actually where is the differentiation do you think or is that is what's going wrong between islam and extremists because those are the people have carried out the attacks obviously not all people following islam are extremists what's your response to that but that's the problem i mean. well i would say i agree with luke on one point is that yes we have an issue with radicalism but again we're not addressing the issue by trying to criminalize the entirety of the muslim community and i think that's the problem because we're attacking the religious freedoms and that's an issue that you know i think worries me greatly because by if we're doing in one community is right for all of our rights and i think that in between need to wake up to this reality i think it would be much more useful to directly target the very ideology that underpins radicalism which is wahhabism but we still continue to bolster our relationship with the likes of saudi arabia and other countries that do promote. this and which is basically the kind of ideology that isis al qaeda and others in the region are actually promoting so we taking issue at the wrong end of this ticket would say now when it comes to you know the status of women and children i will say that i personally feel that yes when it comes to kindergarten and primary school i don't think that anyone can make the religious argument that children little girls should wear a headscarf because it's neither here nor there when it comes to the religious argument because it's not mandatory on them the tool that being said we need to be careful when be begin to legislate over people's you know fashion and manual closing because again we impeding on people's personal freedoms so we need to be very careful with our when it comes to women stated i'm personally i'm a shia muslim woman and i don't see myself as being oppressed or repressed or anything like that and i am western born western raised and so i think that your vision i mean your guess vision of what muslim women look like is very bias and prejudice quite personal frankly speaking and maybe he would need to put in his own rise and that being said again i do realize that yes it is true in certain communities in certain countries where wahhabi islam is being promoted that women are being oppressed and repressed like the likes of guy in certain areas of pakistan as well but no less not generalize and actually. you know put a label on the entirety of the islamic world because that would do a great injustice to the many great women in the islamic world that are actually contributing to society whether they are in the west or whether they are torn back in the slum equalled so i think it's very patronising to just decide that you want to save muslim women from themselves because what have you actually saying the same thing when they say that they want to cover up their women to save them from themselves and again i think that we need to be very careful who is right to be defending it when we're talking about school children i think that our priority should be true actually cater to their rights rather than try to push a political agenda onto them because all we do is actually rob them from their childhood and the freedom that they should be having and that we should be protecting as adults so again i'm a little bit worried that the slower that was he had to set in place we only lead to further radicalization and actually empower those people who do believe in racism who do want racism to be pushed forward into the agenda because it's something that suv dumb and that they want to see immigration being some kind of a grand criminal act because again they would like their country to stay the same but we live in a very global society nothing ever stays the same this is the nature of life or it's things evolve and change and we should welcome it we should be careful how we welcome it for sure but let's not just point the finger is there are there are communities just because a little bit different and they don't abide by our rules there is no such thing as a real clash of civilization people do clash not civilization not society not communities only if we believe in hatred and fear yes ok well clash you really do become for an action and humanity and democracy it will catherine unfortunately we're running out of time we're going to are all one quick question i ask you both to answer very quickly i'll start with. the final commandment that the people apparently must follow and here too is that they must give gratitude to austria. how is that measured and does it strike you as somewhat archaic. more authoritarian luke very quickly what do you think of that commandment. again they might some but there is no criminalize ation as the lady just said about these 10 commandments they simply want the people to realize that they are welcome in a country that would put their social welfare to the disposal of these markets that will welcome them so they shoot show gratitude. grained in them that they should understand that you know it's of course that i'm no penalties but that it's ok luke a list of 10 commandments that's all ok catherine very quickly. well i'm just going to ask whether we should feel grateful for having been forced to flee the country in the 1st place because we have to remember that it is because the western powers brought to their country their homeland that they had secrets as well so should they feel grateful for that up ok thank you both independent journalists a. senior analyst at the hour by and center for planning and so it's great to have you both on the program as our news this hour be back around 30 minutes with more world updates so please stay with us. those who are very well known case account of what showed up was stolen in 69 in. sicily and very important finding and somebody from the mafia just said a few years ago dead they had stolen and stored it in a bog and when they wanted to pick it up it was called because tourists had eaten it. is a tense situation in venezuela is still all over the news the problem in venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been phased fully implemented for inside venezuela things are different we're going to announce sanctions against petroleum to venezuela associate. famously have a son of a moment goes. down for some political battle so on the campaign the mass of the moment the focus of the whose story isn't new nixon called in henry kissinger to tell him that it would not be tolerated that in latin america an alternative that go.
