PORTSMOUTH – Portsmouth resident Michelle Sechser and her rowing partner Molly Reckford are heading to the Tokyo Olympics to compete for a gold medal after winning the 2021 World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland on Sunday. “I can hardly describe how meaningful and emotional the moment we won the race was. I was also so exhausted from such a hard race everything was burning and I was gasping for air,” Sechser said Tuesday. “I've never felt so much pain and joy in the same moment.” Sechser and Reckford could have qualified for a spot in the Olympics by finishing second or third in the Regatta, but Sechser said “winning the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta was so much more satisfying.”
