The Detroit Red Wings will have a captain for the upcoming season, as planned, general manager Steve Yzerman said Tuesday.
Due to the unusual nature of the season – no fans at Little Caesars Arena, at least at the start, and no formal in-person news conferences – due to COVID-19, there was some speculation that the Red Wings might prefer to wait until the start of the 2021-22 season to give the newly named captain a more fitting introduction.
