Recent Seismic Activities in Atlantic Ocean Feared to be a Developing Volcanic Eruption

Unusual seismic signals rumbling across the Azores Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean might indicate the start of a new volcanic eruption. The island of Sao Jorge, one of the Azores' nine islands, has been impacted by more than 1,100 earthquakes. With the possibility of a volcanic explosion, Velas Mayor Luis Silveira, who oversees most of Sao Jorge's population, launched an emergency plan yesterday.
