Vermont officials responded to two separate incidents that occurred during virtual calls this week, including the use of a slur and a question around the validity of Indigenous identity. 
One involved the use of the n-word during a Senate Transportation Committee meeting Wednesday. Another came on Tuesday from NEK-TV's Steve Merrill during Gov. Phil Scott's COVID-update conference after he asked a question about Indigenous identity that some considered offensive.
