An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred only 9 minutes ago 37 km southwest of Tumaco, Colombia, the Institute of Geophysics of the National Polytechnic School in Quito (IGEPN) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 49 km beneath the epicenter near Tumaco, San Andres de Tumaco, Departamento de Nariño, Colombia, in the evening on Tuesday 22 December 2020 at 8:32 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
