DAWSON CREEK, B.C – The Rose Prairie water station is officially closed after approval from the Peace River Regional District board.
The decision was made at the March 11th meeting after a recommendation from the Electoral Area Directors Committee. Explosive gas levels were detected in the air within the treatment storage tank and the station’s well casing on February 21st, the day before opening.
There was no trace of gas detected before the last check-up before the opening date, and believe the water chemistry changed after February 19th. The source water is from a well contained in a small pump house, 1.4 km from the bulk tankloader.
