Police face questions after leaving 4.8 million crimes unsolved in the past year - with 1.6 million investigations abandoned because the victim withdrew their support

It comes after the Daily Mail reported yesterday how forces abandoned investigations into 2.3million crimes without tracking down the culprit - equivalent to four every minute.
