Plant Primer: Joey Mulla Mulla, Ptilotus ‘Joey’ The Columbus Dispatch Light: full sun Origin: Australia If you are looking for something different for the container garden, Joey Mulla Mulla (Ptilotus exltuatus ‘Joey’) might be up your alley. With an upright mounding habit, this plant is a nice filler for a container. The silvery-green leaves are about 1- to 2-inches long, elliptic in shape, with a rubbery texture. The 2- to 4-inch-long bottlebrush-shaped flowers are silvery-lavender in color, emerging silvery and maturing to a more lavender color. Bees and butterflies are attracted to the flowers. Joey, like the baby kangaroo, is a sun-loving, drought-tolerant annual, thriving in very well-drained soils.
