Plans have been submitted for a ‘hidden’ courtyard in Cardiff’s Castle Quarter that would be home to four independent hospitality businesses. Designed by Cardiff’s Rio Architects, the proposed Castle Quarter Courtyard regeneration scheme will see a former nightclub behind High Street and Duke Street Arcades demolished. A new entrance will be created through an existing passageway off High Street Arcade. The development is partly inspired by Soho’s Kingly Court, which is located off Carnaby Street and home to numerous bars and restaurants. The Castle Quarter Courtyard will create four new spaces designed for independent bars and restaurants around a central, open courtyard.
