After months of waiting and $25,000 later, 'The Spirit of Oklahoma' will finally come home Wednesday.
The fire truck is expected to arrive in Calera, Oklahoma sometime Wednesday morning. The town of Calera is a little less than three hours south of the Tulsa metro area, situated along the Oklahoma-Texas border.
Once in Calera, 'The Spirit of Oklahoma' will undergo restoration work to make it look like it did in its prime. After that, the fire truck will be stored at the Tulsa Fire Museum on Peoria and East 8th Street.
The fire truck bears the names of 10 New York firefighters who helped with the response to the Oklahoma City Bombing in April 1995. Unfortunately, those same men died six years later during the September 11 attacks.
