CAMDEN - A Philadelphia elected officials has been named as the first woman to lead the board at the Delaware River Port Authority.
Cherelle L. Parker, the Democratic Majority Leader of Philadelphia's City Council, was elected Wednesday to head the 16-member board, the DRPA said.

She will oversee a bi-state authority that operates four Delaware River bridges and the PATCO Hi-Speed Line.
"The task ahead of us is to revitalize and strengthen the region," Parker said in a statement after her election by fellow board members.
