2020 saw a huge increase in pet adoptions since more people were stuck at home and some felt lonely... a furry companion was exactly what they needed. But unfortunately, as we start to go back to a more normal life, that doesn't include animals as a part of it. Unleashed Love Pet Rescue in Comstock Park spoke with WOOD-TV about the issue, and that they are starting to experience people returning the animals they adopted at an "alarming rate." Normally, they get about 1-5 owner surrenders over a six-month period. Now, they're getting five or six in a week! The rescue's treasurer told WOOD-TV he thinks it has to do with people going back to work.
