Perry patriots young and old honored the war dead in Violet Hill Cemetery last week when volunteers from the Perry VFW Post 2060, Perry Elks Lodge 407 and the Perry Scout Troop 127 placed flags on veterans’ graves in observance of Memorial Day. Memorial Day ceremonies in Perry will take place at 10 a.m. in Violet Hill Cemetery. The Kincaid Martin American Legion Post 583 in Rippey will host a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 31. The exercises will include the Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic speeches, a laying of a memorial wreath, a 21-gun salute and the playing of “Taps.” A luncheon will follow in the Rippey United Methodist Church.
