Print A pedestrian was killed near the San Diego Convention Center Friday evening after being hit by an on-duty Navy sailor driving a government vehicle, the Harbor Police Department said. The fatal crash, which was reported to police at 8:18 p.m., took place near the intersection of Park Boulevard and Harbor Drive, just opposite the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel and the convention center. “When officers arrived San Diego Police Department was already on scene and giving first aid to the victim,” Harbor Police Sergeant T.D. De La Pena said in a statement. San Diego firefighters then arrived and began to assist the victim, but the pedestrian died at the scene, the sergeant said.
