Patricia 'Patty' Murphy Obituary

Murphy, Patricia "Patty" passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 7, 2023 following her battle with ALS. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 8,1954, Patty attended Our Lady of Peace High School in Saint Paul. After graduating from University of Minnesota, Mankato and Loyola University, Chicago, she lived throughout the U.S., before settling with her family in St. Paul. Patty encouraged her two daughters, the joys of her life, to take on life's adventures, words that would describe Patty as well. She loved for her extended family and her friends. Once a friend of Patty's always a friend of Patty's. Always open to new adventures, she built her friendships around all her activities. She enjoyed travel as well as the activities she built her life around at home in Minnesota: yoga, book clubs, biking, walking, dining, gardening, volunteering and a good party. There were few adventures Patty wouldn't try at least once. She worked to build the Young Rembrandts business - bringing young people to art, employing local artists, and sharing her appreciation for the arts. Patty is survived by her mother Betty Murphy, her siblings Kathy, Cheryl, Kevin, and Shawn, and her daughters Caitlin and Erin. She is preceded in death by her father Ken Murphy. Patty's life will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 10AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 15 Seventh Street West, Saint Paul. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration of life at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in honor of Patty be made to Minnesota Landscape Arboretum or The ALS Association of MN/ND/SD.
