Our maths reforms have proved the critics of academic rigour wrong

A few weeks ago, the Education Secretary announced that, in next year’s GCSE Maths exam, candidates would be given equation sheets to save them having to memorise them. This was a Covid-related expedient we introduced in 2022 and 2023 to support students who’d had their education disrupted during lockdown.
