Orangetown Detective Matt Ryder named Rockland Drug Task For

NEW CITY – Rockland District Attorney Thomas Walsh has hired retired Orangetown Detective Matthew Ryder as the director of the undercover Drug Task Force.
Ryder retired on Feb. 26 to accept the $144,000 job. He has worked recently as an Orangetown detective with a federal drug task force and has been a Rockland police officer since 1990. He started with the Nyack Police Department before joining Orangetown in 1991 after Nyack voters disbanded the village police force.
Ryder succeeds George Lutz, a retired Haverstraw detective sergeant dismissed as director last month by Walsh. The district attorney has cited personnel reasons for not disclosing what led to Lutz being fired and Capt. Brendan O'Donohue being suspended with pay pending potential disciplinary charges.
