Article content Before explaining why, it’s important to note that our current ELA curriculum is already strong — according to PISA results, Alberta would rank third worldwide in reading. There is definitely still room for updating, provided it is done right. Indeed, the curriculum draft does notably improve on teaching decoding and related skills, an important step forward.
