One-way street tested to make busy Matamata street more functional

The street boasts a toilet block, skate park, bus stop and car park, but the Matamata-Piako District Council want to revitalise the space into a people-friendly area as part of its ‘streetscape project’.
To combat some of these challenges, council held a one-day trial on Hetana St on Friday, December 4.
It closed off access from Arawa st, meaning traffic could on enter from Broadway and a north to south one-way system was trialled.
