Reply In a sign of a return to normality, subway service changes are making weekend travel a nightmare. (Patch.) NEW YORK CITY — As vaccinations hit millions of arms and the city slowly reopens, New Yorkers are getting back on the subway. In another sign of the return of normality, they're also dealing with a multitude of weekend service changes. Riders returned to the rails in record numbers this month – on March 12, 1.9 million paid trips were made. That's more than on any day in the past year. But getting around this weekend is still going to be tough with many lines disrupted in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service."
