NSW woman arrested after allegedly fleeing Victorian police at COVID-19 checkpoint A resident of a New South Wales coronavirus 'red zone' has been arrested after allegedly fleeing Victorian police at a COVID-19 checkpoint in East Gippsland. Police allege the 57-year-old woman from Bateau Bay, on NSW's Central Coast, attempted to enter Victoria this morning and was directed to return to NSW and make an application for a border permit. Victoria Police said about 4am today, a grey Volkswagen Passat station wagon allegedly evaded the Chandlers Creek checkpoint "at a fast rate of speed". People are seen waiting in long lines for Covid-19 tests at the Brookvale Centre on December 19, 2020 in Sydney, Australia. A cluster of Covid-19 cases on the northern beaches of Sydney continues to grow causing other Australian states and territories to impose restrictions on travel ahead of the Christmas holidays. The source of the cluster has not yet been found. (Photo by Lee Hulsman/Getty Images)(Getty)
