Northern Express cruised to victory in the featured trot at Dover Downs Tuesday night (Jan. 26). Northern Express and Morairtime left alertly at the start of the race. Northern Express and driver Russell Foster gladly accepted the pocket trip from Morairtime and Jack Parker Jr. Morairtime reached the quarter in :28 and continued their journey to an identical :28 second quarter, reaching the half in :56. Nearing three-quarters, driver Russell Foster sensed that Morairtime was tiring over the "sloppy surface" and chose to pull the pocket. Three-quarters was timed in 1:25.2. Northern Express was able to clear the lead at the top of the stretch. Majestic Marvel continued in pursuit but was unable to make up any ground on the leader. Northern Express won by a convincing two-and-one-quarter lengths in 1:54.3 as the 2-1 favourite.
