Nomar Mazara to Tigers, per reports Share this story Photo by Stephen Lam/Getty Images Nomar Mazara and the Detroit Tigers have agreed to a one year deal worth $1.75 million, per multiple reports. The 25 year old — damn, he’s still just 25 — became a free agent after being non tendered by the Chicago White Sox. Mazara got a record signing bonus to sign with the Texas Rangers as part of a big 2011 J-2 class that also saw Ronald Guzman and Yohander Mendez land big signing bonuses. Mazara appeared to be a solid starter the Rangers would be able to build around after a nice debut in 2016 at the age of 20, but he has never really developed since then. The Rangers finally moved on from him last offseason, dealing him to the ChiSox for minor league outfielder Steele Walker, but Mazara put up just a 589 OPS with the White Sox.
