Few lose power in Alamance after winter weather
As of early Thursday afternoon, fewer than 200 Alamance County households were without power following icy weather which began overnight.
ReadyNC, which congregates outage data from the major power companies, reported 171 residences lost power as of 1 p.m. Thursday. At 11:40 a.m., 324 residences had lost power. More than 27,000 homes were without power across the state of North Carolina late Thursday morning.
This follows freezing rain last weekend when more than 6,000 Alamance County residents lost power.
Freezing rain is expected to last until about 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. There's a chance it could turn to rain after 2 p.m. Thursday, but it's expected to turn back to freezing rain Thursday night.
