WASHINGTON, Aug. 8, 1974 (UPI)-Richard M. Nixon told Gerald R. Ford Thursday that he is resigning as the 37th president of the United States, and Ford will be sworn in as the new president Friday at 6 p.m. EDT, UPI learned.
