Nicole Madden, the only female chief in Bucks, named Tinicum's top cop Nicole Madden no longer has the word "acting," in front of her title. Earlier this month, Madden became Tinicum's police chief, making her the only woman in county law enforcement currently holding that title. “It’s exciting, it really is,” she said. Madden, a 12-year member of the department, had been acting chief with the township police department since July, when former chief Matthew Phelan left to head Bedminster's police force. On Dec. 1, township supervisors voted to officially make her the chief, according to township manager Teri Lewis. Madden's swearing-in ceremony, conducted by District Judge Gary Gambardella, took place on Dec. 15.
