ALFEUS Tuhafeni Kapala Ya Festus Nghipondoka, a 66-year-old veteran of the liberation struggle who died in a Walvis Bay hospital on 9 February, was laid to rest at Ondobe village, Ohangwena Region, this past Sunday.
Late Nghipondoka was admitted to hospital due to a pre-existing health condition but his COVID-19 test turned out positive posthumously. Relatives and other mourners were permitted to attend the burial in the Ondobe cemetery.
That was the first time residents of this part of the world witnessed a COVID-19 related burial. While some attendees could not hide their curiosity, others were visibly fear-stricken as they stood a distance from the grave.
