New UN estimates show 14,000 children die and 5,000 babies are stillborn every day mostly of preventable causes

In 2021, five million children died before reaching their fifth birthday. Over half of these deaths, 2.7 million, occurred among children aged 1-59 months, while the remainder, 2.3 million, occurred in the first month of life.
