“Sales chasing,” which is banned by the Louisiana Tax Commission, is controversial because it can result in higher taxes on recently sold homes than others nearby for no other reason than having been sold. Accusations of sales chasing have dogged Williams since at least 2017, and the legislative auditor previously found he had likely done it in the last reassessment.
