NEP Implementation in Jammu and Kashmir: Bridging the Gap between Vision and Reality

In 2022, Jammu and Kashmir adopted a new education policy (NEP) aimed at breaking down subject boundaries and promoting empirical thinking. However, the implementation faced challenges due to lack of readiness and infrastructure. The policy introduced multiple entry-exit points, but concerns arose about students' future prospects. The NEP also emphasised multidisciplinary education but led to confusion among students. Integration of vocational subjects was lauded but raised questions about practical skills and industrial readiness. Overall, the NEP's intentions were appreciated but required better planning and resources for successful implementation in Jammu and Kashmir.
