JOHN DAY — The Malheur National Forest rescinded the temporary bike trail closures near Magone Lake on Wednesday, August 30. The non-commercial thinning activity has been completed in those areas.

The non-commercial thinning activity was part of the Southern Blues Restoration Project, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Joint Chiefs’ Landscape Restoration Partnership. The project goals are to reduce and mitigate wildfire threats to communities and landowners, protect water quality and supply for communities and industry, and improve habitat concerns for at-risk species.
