Name of man who drowned near Buckeye Lake released
BUCKEYE LAKE — A man who died from an apparent drowning involving a jet ski near Buckeye Lake Thursday afternoon has been identified by the Licking County Coroner's Office as Jon Sayers.
According to a 911 call made around 4 p.m., boaters on a pontoon saw Sayers wearing a life jacket and floating face down on Crane Lake, a smaller appendage of Buckeye Lake.
They were able to hold him out of the water until first responders arrived.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, Stephanie O'Grady, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, said.
