Murder charge filed in Virden death Ron DeBrock Hearst Illinois FacebookTwitterEmail CARLINVILLE — First-degree murder charges have been filed against a Carlinville man in a Feb. 1 death in Virden. Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan J. Garrison said two counts were filed Tuesday against Dalton M.K. Obermark, 20, of Carlinville in the stabbing death of John Rennie of Virden. Rennie, 58, was found dead in his house about 11:55 p.m. Feb. 1 after Virden Police were asked to check on his welfare. Because of visible trauma to Rennie, Illinois State Police criminal investigators were called. Obermark also faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated battery. Associate Judge Joshua A. Meyer has set Obermark’s bail at $1 million.
