Mumbai: Metro One chugs into 7 yr track record The Reliance Infrastructure-led Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd (MMOPL) that runs between Ghatkopar and Versova has completed seven years of its operations this year. It is the only Metro line that is currently in service in the city. On June 8, 2014, the Metro line was operational for the public. Since then, it has served more than 668 million commuters, covering eight million km with 99.9% punctuality, providing the highest train performance levels and a completely accident-free service, according to MMOPL. In fact, before the pandemic, Mumbai Metro One was the eighth-most densest corridor in the world, carrying more than 4.5 lakh commuters on a weekday. However, due to Covid and travel restriction, only essential service employees are currently allowed to use the service, which has affected the numbers.
