Mum of teen hit by dangerous driver refused to turn off son's life support - the next day he blinked

On his 19th birthday, Lee Baxter was hit by a driver going three times speed limit
Baxter was left with a severe brain injury and was unconscious for weeks in 2018
On Friday, driver Kevin Bernard was sentenced to six years in prison for the crash
Bernard, 43, has been on the run since Christmas and skipped his March trial
Baxter's Mum Dawn told Liverpool Crown Court of being advised that Baxter would not recover and refusing to turn off his life support
The next day, he blinked, beginning a painful recovery that continues today
She said Baxter still struggles with coming to terms with his injuries, which she said have caused a change in his personality and confidence
