The George Floyd homicide verdict was due, and defendant Derek Chauvin waited in a Minneapolis courtroom. Bishop Kenneth White waited, too, in his office at his church, the Linconia Tabernacle Christian Center in Bensalem.
“My wife and I sit and watch the news every morning," said Bishop White, who is 68 and has been pastor for 34 years.
Chauvin, a white police officer, was charged and tried with killing George Floyd, a Black man on whose neck Chauvin kneeled for nearly nine minutes during an arrest last year. The horrifying scene, with Floyd pleading for his life, was captured on video from bystanders, who also pleaded for Chauvin to stop.
