MSP Newsroom New Testing Process "Opens Door" for Trooper Recruit School Applicants from Outside Michigan A full switch to the National Testing Network (NTN) is increasing access for those taking the first step toward becoming a Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper. The first step in the application process requires all applicants to take the Entry-Level Law Enforcement Examination. The MSP began using the NTN, which is the nation’s first and largest continuous public safety recruitment and test administration company, exclusively on Nov. 1, to proctor the exam. “If you have a computer and internet access, you can start the application process from anywhere in the world now,” said F/Lt. Duane Zook, MSP’s Recruiting and Selection Section Commander. “We can reach more people, which is a definite priority for us, and it’s so much more convenient for applicants who reside outside of Michigan; not to mention that it’s also safer for all involved given the ongoing pandemic.”
