MSP investigates patrol car crash in Midland County Dec. 17, 2020 FacebookTwitterEmail A Wednesday afternoon crash involving a police trooper left four people injured. At 2:51 p.m. on Dec. 16, a trooper from the Michigan State Police Tri-City Post was traveling southbound on M-18 just south of Shaffer Road when a vehicle traveling north on M-18 turned left, in front of the patrol vehicle. The trooper was unable to avoid the vehicle and a collision occurred, resulting in the patrol vehicle leaving the roadway and overturning in the ditch. The trooper was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted for non-life threating injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, a 76-year-old woman from Beaverton, was also transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and is expected to be released later today.
