This footprint of the storm is growing as it moves toward the coastline here, and its a situation where weve now run out of days, were down to hours and that time to prepare, that time to get ready just about over at this point especially if you want to move to higher ground as things start to get dicy through the day today, and as you talk about once this storm makes landfall, it is going to be really a record with driving rain, and Winds Gusting right now upwards of 200 miles an hour as part of this storm, and its making its way towards the coast as we talk about it, and folks here i talked to somebody who left their home, moved to higher ground telling me these are the toughest times right now waiting, watching to see where this storm will strike and what it might leave behind. Thats going to be the biggest impact and historical storm as we go throughout the next 24 hours. A 10 to 15foot Storm Surge<\/a>. That is unsurvivable where you see the purple there including portions of of central florida, sarasota, tampa, also looking at very high Storm Surge<\/a> in Fort Myers<\/a>, also marco island. And were going see Flooding Impacts<\/a> as well. Flash flooding, streams and rivers will be swollen. The ground is saturated already so life threatening and catastrophic Flash Flooding<\/a> is expected, up to 18 inches in some spots. And were going to see rain across the state of florida. And were also looking at those winds. This will be a major impact because those grounds are so set. Stow Hurricane Force<\/a> Winds Gusting<\/a> from ghost to coast. This is going to be a story to to watch over the next 24 hours, certainly one for the record books and the cleanup afterwards. And a new book by long time and famed germest Bob Woodward<\/a> reveals that former president Donald Trump<\/a> has maintained close contact with russian president vladimir putin since he left office. The upcoming book titled war cites an unnamed Trump Aide<\/a> claiming that the former President And Putin<\/a> have spoken as many as seven times since trump left the White House<\/a> back in january of 2021. The book alleges that as those conversations were happening between trump and putin, trump was also pressuring republicans in congress to block Military Aid<\/a> to ukraine and to do what ukraine needs to defend itself against russias invasion. Additionally, the book revealed back in 2020 trump secretly sent Putin Covid<\/a> tests for his personal use when many americans simply couldnt get them. Woodward, of course, the renowned journalist who uncovered watergate, concludes trump as president was, quote, worse than richard nixon. The book goes on sale next tuesday. A Trump Campaign Spokesman<\/a> issued a response to the title stating in part this. None of these stories made up by Bob Woodward<\/a> are true and are the work of a truly demented and deranged man who suffers from a debilitating case of trump derangement syndrome. Meanwhile, at a Campaign Event<\/a> in detroit yesterday, trumps running mate, j. D. Vance, was dismissive when asked about woodward. I honestly didnt know Bob Woodward<\/a> was still alive until you asked me that question. Thats what little i know about Bob Woodward<\/a> is that he is im going to use a word here. He is a hack. The guys a hack. So have i talked to Donald Trump<\/a> about his calls with vladimir putin . No, ive never had that conversation with Donald Trump<\/a> in my life. But if Donald Trump<\/a> even if its true, is there something wrong with speaking to World Leaders<\/a> . No . Is there anything wrong with engaging in diplomacy . There is an issue when someone is engaging in diplomacy when that person is not the president. Theres only one president , of course, at a time. Eugene, give us the reaction here to this new Explosive Reporting<\/a> from Bob Woodward<\/a> on these calls in particular. What is the White House<\/a> and the biden administration saying, and what does the Harris Campaign<\/a> say about trump continuing to consort with someone who has an avowed enemy of the united states, and someone whose military continues their invasion of ukraine . One, the aides that we talked to say that it is absolutely as you just alluded to quite abnormal and not something that is done in this country to have former president s especially dealing with calling on behalf of the country in any way, shape, or form other leaders, especially our adversaries. That is not something former president s do or have done largely because they respect the at this point, the men that have been in office after them and allow them to have that kind of Foreign Policy<\/a> movements the way that they want to do it. And the second is, you know, a lot of the aides that i spoke both within the White House<\/a> and on the Harris Campaign<\/a> say that this is more of the same, that they feel like this reporting is just, you know, us watching over the years how former president Donald Trump<\/a> as president and after has praised president putin, the way that hes done things, believed him over the intelligence agencies. You were there in helsinki when he did that in that press conference. And so they see it as more of the same. Theres no reason at this point because it is Bob Woodward<\/a>. He is for a very long time convinced very smart and wellconnected people to tell him a lot of information. And so that they seem to believe in it. For them its more of the same, and theyre probably going to continue to use this as a reason why they feel like Donald Trump<\/a> shouldnt get back into office because in their eyes you Cant Trust<\/a> him. Eugene, lets look at some of the other headlines here from the upcoming woodward book, a lot of them about President Biden<\/a>, how he feels about trump. Spoiler, not too kindly. Also expressing real frustration about Attorney General<\/a> garland, how slow the pace of the investigations into trump proceeded, and also the probe into his own son, hunter biden. And then real frustration with prime Minister Netanyahu<\/a>, a continuing story line, the two men likely to speak again later today as israel gauges what sort of response to deliver against iran. On netanyahu, whats really interesting is that when you talk to aides within the White House<\/a> and you ask them how the President F<\/a>rom, you know, the day the president walked in and how theyve felt about netanyahu, they always use the same word with me, and they have a strong relationship but that President Biden<\/a> Behind Closed Doors<\/a> kind of, you know, speaks truth to netanyahu and they go back and forth in this aggressive manner. And it was always very obvious after October 7th<\/a> and as israel continued to started to bomb areas in gaza and then invade gaza that the White House<\/a> and President Biden<\/a> himself was getting frustrated especially with the toll that it was taking on the civilian and the innocent folks in gaza. So it wasnt surprising to see to see it here that that frustration existed. Theyre going to have that. Soon it will be a complicated call as they always say that they are, so thats not a surprise. Not a surprise how he has talked about and thinks about former president trump. Youve reported the kinds of ways in which President Biden<\/a> talks about Donald Trump<\/a> Behind Closed Doors<\/a>, and so a lot of the things in here are exactly what youd want from a book that is about how the administration is. It either confirms or doubles down, triples down on a lot of the things we have been hearing and more importantly reported throughout getting into a lot of detail, the is what reporters and voters need. Now, this remedy would prevent google from using products such as chrome, play, and Google Play<\/a> and Google Search Products<\/a> and features over its rivals. This announcement comes after a judge found googles Search Engine<\/a> was an illegal Monopoly Back<\/a> in august. And thats one of many setbacks illegal setbacks for googles owner alphabet. Mayor, in the wake of Hurricane Helene<\/a> just two weeks ago or so, theres been a lot of misinformation, disinformation put forward by public officials and others. Theres been a real concern that misinformation is leading people to not seek help from the government, to make bad, hazardous decisions. How worried are you as this storm approaches about similar disinformation about the storm . Well, the misinformation, disinformation is always going to be a problem. Absolutely, over the past four years, as the former president built this cocoon around him and filled his club with all of these people who told him exactly what he wanted to be hearing, especially in the wake of january 6. But, you know, in typical company and fashion, there was really theres really been little they can do about that. There are people like nick fuentes, lora loomer, all of these have made their way around the campaign. But lindsey grahams very candid Ontherecord Account<\/a> of what maralago, akin to north korea, a praise thats lavished trump at times. Is a rare Ontherecord Account<\/a>. Right its another moment, where we have a prominent lawmaker say one thing behind the scenes about trump that he would never see in a public setting in front of the media, lets say. That to that point it continuing even now to a very dangerous moment for our country. Donald trump is the Lead Spreader<\/a> about part of the disinformation about the response to helene. And now we have an even bigger Storm Bearing<\/a> down on the florida coast. Just talk to us about that dynamic. I mean, Anna Paulina Looma<\/a> represents that part of the area where when they came out on tv and said youre going to be killed. She appeared on stage with Trump Last<\/a> week. These are lawmakers directly emboldened by trump and rewarded for this propaganda and disinformation. He was even corrected on twitter for demanding that fema provide funding for Hurricane Relief<\/a>, even though just two weeks ago she voted against in congress that would have brought more funds to fema. Shes also one of the Lead Spreader<\/a> of misinformation that fema has directed funds to help illegal immigrants, rather than Hurricane Relief<\/a>, that, of course, is false. Of course there are issues to take up with fema. Every single Hurricane Weve<\/a> had, you know, these are really challenging situations with com especially in places like rural North Carolina<\/a>. There are real issues that, you know, constituents and lawmakers can take up with fema. But its certainly not the issues that were seeing Republicans Rally<\/a> around right now. And talk to us a little more about how the storms become politicized. Of course, theyre moments when politics should be set aside. President biden tried to defuse it yesterday, spoke yesterday, said he spoke to the governor of florida, they had a good conversation. But with the desantis team, his team saying they wouldnt even take a call from Vice President<\/a> harris. Yeah. I mean, the timing of itself lends itself to Pure Politicization<\/a> of it. Again, this Anna Paulina Looma<\/a> is running against in a district that is extremely maga. And st. Petersburg is actually more of a blue city. And this is something thats catching up to her. Shes having to explain why he voted for Hurricane Relief<\/a> funds right in the midst of Hurricane Season<\/a>. Naturally, youll see republican lawmakers on their heels trying to explain why they didnt support additional funding. And lastly, gives us a look into the senate race. Senator baldwin got polling in the race shows a tightening of the race. I mean, democratic lawmakers across the board, especially, wisconsin, montana, theyre in really tight races. Texas as well. We knew texas was always going to be a long shot but wisconsin and montana were the two hot spots that were especially looking at. Tammy baldwin, again, its turned into a tossup, a place where she would have been a bit of a shooin. Jon tester now. And seems to be behind a fairly vulnerable and weak republican candidate.
