Military Defense Posture in the area to deter aggression and reduce the risk of a broader regional war. And the u. S. State department ordering the evacuation of certain employees and their Family Members from the embassy in beirut there is a lot to talk about. We will go first to Matt Bradley in beirut. I spoke with some folks there and they said folks are packing up and getting ready to leave. Even though the american embassy has been saying for months, ever since the beginning of the war, All The Way back on October 7 or october 8th, the day after one has block for Start Firing at israel. Diplomacy remains the best path forward to protect civilians and achieve lasting stability in the region. We have talked about that stability being a major concern for the biden administration over the last year now and even more so in the wake of this news, especially as we continue to see these strikes by the idf continue in lebanon. Exactly what the White House has been trying to avoid. In that statement from the president and Vice President , theyre saying that they are hopeful a diplomatic solution can still be reached. Can israel achieve its goals, which they are returning their 70,000 citizens to the north with a diplomatic agreement. In essence, the lebanese government forcing hezbollah to pull back to the river. I dont think we are there yet. Hang on. How do you have a diplomatic agreement if you have the head of hezbollah killed. Who steps into the void to negotiate that . They will be a Successor Name shortly. And the lebanese government will have a somewhat, not much control but they have some influence. That is who we are negotiating with. The real question goes back to iran as well. I know we are jumping around with what iran wants to do. Do they want to see their proxy destroyed as well after all, hezbollah, is an aircraft carrier. It is a forward base for iran. That is their deterrence in stopping israel from conducting a nuclear strike on iran he and Facilities Iran does not want to see hezbollah totally dismantled. There is some diplomatic solution here. I do see that i dont we are an allout war. Again, if big if what role the u. S. Play . Officials said they do not want a war but if it happens, with the White House provide additional support to israel on top of what it is given for the Hamas Conflict . The u. S. Has already said publicly and directly to hezbollah over the summer that they will stand with israel and defend israel in the event of an escalation. Defending israel looks more of the same. More support for the iron door, the iron dome. More help in intercepting missiles. When they coming from hezbollah or the houthis. I dont see why the u. S. Would not do that. The u. S. Does not want to see escalation but they have been repeating that since October 7. That is the last thing they want. That is also the last thing that the biden administration wants. Like mark said i do not think a full escalation is inevitable i do not expect iran to get involved. Iran does not want to get involved. They would rather have their proxies do this for them. U. S. Defense of israel provides a strong deterrent in that way. What i do expect is something that last a bit longer than we are used to in this region. I dont think he has a vision of the day after. The only thing he wants is to decapitate and dismantle as these Terrorist Groups as much as possible.
