What do you think, basil . Well, you know, Donald Trump has said he wanted to do this, so why wouldnt he show up . I mean, there are a lot of reasons you wouldnt. Maybe hes just scared to debate her again. But, he said he was going to do it, so he should come out and do it. I think his ego will not allow him to stay away from an opportunity to sort of showcase himself in front of these supporters. You know, initially, i had said that maybe it is not a great idea for Kamala Harris to do it again, she was so good in the first debate, any mistakes so close to the election might rewrite the narrative for trump in that debate, but i do feel that she is going to still be really good in debating him. I think she will still sort of Win It if you will. But, i also think it is a great Fundraising Opportunity just before the election to be able to do that last voter portion. So, i do think there are some pluses for her to go to that debate so soon before the election. Okay. Carlos, are there pluses for Donald Trump to do another debate . Alex, i really think Donald Trump needs another debate, after the debate with Kamala Harris. He lost the momentum in this race. We saw that in the Fundraising Numbers that you just shared and we are also seeing it in some of the polling. In addition to that, trump has some major issues in states like North Carolina, so it really does seem like, given the dynamics of this race, that Donald Trump could benefit more from a debate. Of course, it would depend on his performance and his ability to stay focused which is a major Obstacle Question for him, right . And carlos, if he doesnt, what does that do to his campaign . If he has another performance like The One he first did, with Kamala Harris . Well, if he does the same or doesnt debate at all, i think the race stays about where it is now, and it certainly does seem that both financially, in terms of enthusiasm, and as Swing Voters are going in some of these key states, that Kamala Harris has a slight edge over Donald Trump. So, this is important for him. He should definitely do it. And if he doesnt, he should write out the best Debate Performance possible, rather than snapping back to a lot of these grievances and complaints, and personal attacks, and insults that he is so prone to. Carlos, what you make of the state Republican Party standing behind Mark Robinson, given the new reporting, with his past inflammatory comments that we have on record . Look, this is the trap that republicans have found themselves in, since Donald Trump first burst onto the scene here, in 2015. The base of the Republican Party is willing to go to places and willing to take positions that put the Republican Party in a very bad place when it comes to Swing Voters, middleoftheroad voters, independence, people who actually decide elections. So, here is a candidate, alex, who is likely going to lose this race and in a spectacular fashion, i may add, a guy who is singlehandedly turning A Pink state into a purple state. He is probably going to lose his race yet, the base of the Republican Party, which now controls a lot of these Establishment Instruments of the Republican Party, is standing by him. 15 years ago, the Republican Party in North Carolina would have said, no way. We need a different candidate. This man is no longer qualified. That type of instrument in the Republican Party no longer exists. And you know, basil, robinson said this summer, some folks need killing. He said he would like to go back to when women couldnt vote. He denied the holocaust. He called gay and transgender people filth. I mean, all of this led David Graham to write for the atlantic, if the North Carolina gop was going to draw a line on this sort of behavior, it should have been drawn years ago. How did the states gop get to where it is now . Well, i mean, that is the existential question, because how did the Republican Party at large get to where it is today . Largely, over the last few years, it is the influence of Donald Trump. But listen, this has been brewing for a long time. I always said if Donald Trump didnt exist, he would have been invented. The truth is, that once you go down this path, it is almost impossible to pull it back. You developed a Cult Following around an individual, and any steps away from the sort of core of that are met with such stern disapproval, that it is a disincentive to go on a different direction. The republican Report Party right now in North Carolina has to go with robinson because he is on the ballot, there is no taking him off the ballot. So, unless they will promote a write in candidate, they are stuck with this guy, who was already underperforming Donald Trump in the state. These incredibly abhorrent comments. And i want to add this quick thing, just think about the thing that Herschel Walker was also somewhat promoted by Donald Trump. Where is he today . Some of these people may not vote, some of them may vote for Kamala Harris<\/a>. All right, im going to interpret that answer as like, a five. Basil, you have a 1 to 10 . Yeah, listen, Kamala Harris<\/a> is an aspirational candidate. I am going to have aspirational statements about North Carolina<\/a> and her chances. I will say a seven. We will go with a seven, i think that would be the independent vote that is there, the history of that state electorally, the Money Advantage<\/a> that she has, she can pull out a lot of votes if she can, in some ways, depress the turnout for Mark Robinson<\/a> and up her turnout. Shes got a really good shot. Okay. You two cant go anywhere, because we have more to talk about in just a few minutes, so stay right there. Well, we havent got any update from the Trump Campaign<\/a> in terms of any specific time when he would arrive in springfield, although lets be clear, republican officials there are hoping that he reconSide<\/a>rs those plans. But, for that oped that you mentioned, we did hear from a spokesperson of Jd Vance<\/a>, who pushed back on the oped and said Jd Vance<\/a> and Governor Dewine<\/a> dont agree on every issue, and said that Donald Trump<\/a> will help secure the order and end the chaos. Of course, the spokesperson not really referencing the lie, the rumor, that Donald Trump<\/a> amplified on the Debate Stage<\/a>, that caused much of the chaos that you saw in springfield. That was followed by threats to schools, and grocery stores, and businesses, that has also caused a lot of frustration with members of that community. You know, i was at a Town Hall<\/a> earlier this week, a Protrump Crowd<\/a> there. I want you to listen to what one supporter of the former preSide<\/a>nt told me. That is why he gets in trouble, because some but he trusted told him about dogs and cats, he bought into it, i guess, and it did happen in other towns, from what i understand, but not springfield. And that is the thing. And then, of course, you go and repeat it, you better have it checked yourself, because your opposition is going to play that up all day long. Again, local officials there say there is no basis of truth, no line of truth to those claims that we heard the former preSide<\/a>nt amplify on the Debate Stage<\/a>. But, the impact has been clear, there are still State Troopers<\/a> that are sweeping the schools that were evacuated because of bomb threats, those threats have subSide<\/a>d since earlier this week, but you have a lot of people there fearful about the situation in springfield, and many of them, some of them, blaming the former preSide<\/a>nt. You know, can i just also say, quickly, i listened to you with that interview, and that gentlemen you interviewed said, it has happened elsewhere, we have heard, just not in springfield and i am like, Come On<\/a> all right, thank you very much, shaq, i appreciate that. I want to bring back Carlos Cabello<\/a> and basil now. Now, what you make of this . The mayor doesnt even want Donald Trump<\/a> to come. What are the chances that he even goes there, and is there any way that this helps Donald Trump<\/a> . No, i dont think it helps Donald Trump<\/a> at all, and if Governor Dewine<\/a> is saying, dont show up, if others dont want him there. And especially because there is likely tension for him not lie, and then all it does is create an additional amount of chaos. And by the way, it energizes the vote against Donald Trump<\/a> and republicans in a state that i am sure they dont want, but certainly would be beneficial to democrats. Which again, is something they dont want. Let me just say quickly, the point you raised about that interview, the german said, yeah, i heard about another town, but wrong about springfield. So, he was wrong on the location, but not the overall issue. And you see how and just think about how extraordinary the lie has become and how rapidly it has spread. That, i think, is the real challenge for all of us, that we have got to consistently beat this back. And i imagine that the republicans dont want to have to spend their time, and energy, and money, trying to just repeat, refute his lie, so why put him in a position where he has to tell more . Dont you think, carlos, that going to springfield would just extend this story for Donald Trump<\/a> . Well, alex, it is a very selfish thing to do because we know how much havoc and how traumatized this town is after this horrible experience. We know about all of the bomb threats, elected officials receiving threats. It just has been a horrible experience for the whole community, the proliferation of this lie. So, it definitely is selfish, and i do think, again, it can hurt Donald Trump<\/a> with some of those Swing Voters<\/a>. Candidly, it might help energize his base, as we heard. There are people in Donald Trump<\/a> space to either excuse this behavior or believe the untruths. But, i dont think Donald Trump<\/a> space needs more excitement. If Donald Trump<\/a> wants to win this race, he should probably be focused on those voters that are loosely supporting one of the two candidates, a few that are still undecided, those are the people who, i think, will ultimately decide this race and those people do reject this kind of lie and they do reject the kind of conduct that Donald Trump<\/a> is prone to exhibiting, and that ends up, you know, hurting communities like this one, that a, n, they have had to deal with the major consequences that have come as a result of the proliferation of this lie. Yeah, 100 . Lets move, basil, to the Howard University<\/a> poll, which finds 82 of black voters in battleground states plan to fight vote for Side<\/a>nt'>Vice PreSide<\/a>nt<\/a> harris, compared to 12 for trump. But, when we look at specifically young black men, those numbers shift to 72 for harris, 21<\/a> for trump. It is still an overwhelming majority, but is it enough of a margin in key battleground states . The detail is in those cross towns, right . Yeah, you know, i have always said she will do well among africanamerican voters, but she has got to really get into those communities and talk to these voters, for two reasons. One and i dont want to at all discount this there is a tremendous amount of misinformation about her online, that comes up even in my feet, shared by a number of africanamerican voices, if you will, really trying to tamp down her vote. I do think some of those concerns might be legitimate, but with the overwhelming amount of it, it seems to me like there is a larger sort of Misinformation Disinformation Campaign<\/a> that has played here, and i think that is something that her campaign needs to deal with. But, i also think, from a policy standpoint, one of the big issues is not just the economy, i think it is a larger concern around wealth creation. How do young africanamericans, particularly africanamerican men, create wealth for their selves, their family, especially if wealth can often be tied up in your home . And if it is almost impossible to be able to buy a home today, if you are a young voter, then this is going to be something of concern that you really want the campaign to address, which i think they are, but just a little bit more work to be done with that part. Well, look, my own republican candidate has tried to make this argument that, you know, we should just leave it up to the states. That is not working out for american women. We are at a crisis in our country. This is creating chaos throughout our country, and it is up to women everywhere in this particular election to show up and make sure that we bring this country back to one where we have our freedoms. The chaos that is being created is just you cant overstate it. At The End<\/a> of the day, you cannot make the argument, you cannot run for federal office in this country and say that you want to support the Dobbs Decision<\/a>, because what is happening as a result of the Dobbs Decision<\/a> is pure chaos across this country, and we all know it. We see it with our own eyes, of course we do. So, this trump ambitious, himself, as a leader on in vitro fertilization. For the second time, senate republicans blocked a bill providing federal protections and Insurance Coverage<\/a> for ivf. Was this boat a political stunt by democrats . Because that is what the republicans are alleging. Do you think house republicans will hold a vote on one of their own ivf bills before the election . Well, i think that this vote was, in particular, asking republicans to put their vote where their mouth is. They keep saying that they support ivf, and yet they keep voting against federal protections around ivf and this is very much like the abortion discussion. My own opponent here says that he supports making sure that there are exceptions, and yet he is committed to not support the exceptions that he supposedly supports. So, they are twisting themselves into a pretzel for one reason and one reason only. They know just how unpopular these issues are in Swing Districts<\/a> like mine. Ivf is a really personal issue to our family, as well. Just over a year ago, my little niece, eleanor, was born to my sister and her husband through ivf. You know, we are the party that is working to make sure that women and families across this country have the reproductive freedom to create families. That is what we are trying to do, and anybody who wants to stop that is on the wrong Side<\/a> of the american people and Swing Voters<\/a> in Swing Districts<\/a>. But, republicans, they seem to be flipflopping from the top on down on abortion. How are you seeing Reproductive Rights<\/a> being addressed among your constituents . Well, it is happening in my district, as well. My republican opponent, joe taylor rapp, filled out a pro Life Survey<\/a> a few months ago and said he supported federal restrictions on abortion, that he would support blocking access to mifepristone. He said in this proLife Survey<\/a> that he would not vote to weaken any State Law<\/a> in place the day he was elected. And that means in those 22 states around the country where abortion is banned, even in the case of rape, incest, and life of the mother, even in the case where the woman, as a consequence, is bleeding out in a hospital Parking Lot<\/a>, that he will do nothing about that. So, we cant take this claim that, oh, i support exceptions. If you are not going to step up as a federal elected Official And Support<\/a> women by stopping what is happening in states around our country, you dont deserve to walk into the halls of congress, ever. Women, and families, and men who support women, we have got to step up, and we have got to stop this, because this is not going to stop at abortion, it is not going to stop at ivf. So, i understand you met with representatives of the Teamsters Union<\/a> this week, which announced that it will not make a national endorsement for either preSide<\/a>nt ial candidate this election. The last time it had not chosen a democrat since 1996. About two dozen local Teamsters Union<\/a>s, though, had endorsed Kamala Harris<\/a> since then. But, how big of a blow is this to her campaign . Im curious what you heard from the teamsters during your meeting. Well, i can tell you i worked tirelessly and democrats have worked tirelessly over the last several years to save Teamsters Pension<\/a> with the Butch Lewis Act<\/a> across our country. So of course, i am disappointed. But, i am also very aware and in my own home state, local 120, they are endorsing at the Swing State<\/a> level, across the country. And so, i expect teamsters, all over our nation, and certainly in minnesota, to be door to door working to elect Kamala Harris<\/a> and Tim Walz<\/a> as the next preSide<\/a>nt and Side<\/a>nt'>Vice PreSide<\/a>nt<\/a> of the united states. I mean, it is quite possible we look back in time and can pinpoint the drastic shift occurring this week. What a tremendous operation that was pulled off this weekend we still dont know all the details, but we know enough that it was planned for years and plans planned with a lot of interesting spy craft. It is just kind of mind boggling, what must have gone into it. And yet, i do think there are still some questions, whether they intended for them to go off. Or, rather it is something that the plans had to be moved up for some reason. So, you do kind of wonder, did we accidentally stumble into escalating something that was already very tense . But, no doubt, hezbollah is a dangerous terrorist organization. They have caused problems not only toward israel, but all around the globe. I do have concerns that if we dont see some deescalation soon, we could be dealing with a much more complicated situation. And as i think we all know, this is an extremely complex situation, as we are already dealing with what is happening in gaza, the involvement of iran. It is a perilous time. And let me just confirm, despite no claims of responsibility, israel, it has not said it did or did not it wasnt behind the pager attack. But, with your description, the complex nature of all of this, the years in the planning, is there any other actor that could have done it . Not really. Some of israels statements has been kind of well, not confirming, but they are also kind of in the responses, implying that it is the traditional Class Finance<\/a> or, i cannot confirm or deny. It kind of is a bit of a wink and a nod, you kind of have to assume that this was then. All right, so, i know you were among the 111 former republican officials who signed a letter endorsing Kamala Harris<\/a>, saying that Donald Trump<\/a> has demonstrated dangerous qualities and is unfit to serve again as preSide<\/a>nt. What did you observe during your time in homeland security, and why was it important for you to publicly support Kamala Harris<\/a> . I think it is important for us to come out and remind people i think people had forgotten and the debate helped some people remember, hey, this is an individual who doesnt have a lot of selfcontrol, certainly serving in the administration, it was daily chaos. We would start the day with one agenda, and then get a Phone Call<\/a> that trump needed something, and the secretary of homeland securitys time was completely veered off into some other direction. Usually, because some Media Personality<\/a> had called him, and had a great idea that he wanted to explore, which had no practical ability to be implemented, so we were constantly dealing with chaos, we were constantly dealing with trying to constrain his worst impulses. This is a person who didnt do his homework, he didnt like to be study and be prepared before he met with leaders. He was often taken advantage of by xi, by putin, he was manipulated frequently on the world stage. And quite frankly, it left us with a pretty bad stained with our allies. People Cant Trust<\/a> the united states anymore. So, from a national security perspective, solely, there just is no scenario where i could ever support a Donald Trump<\/a> serving a second term. He is just too dangerous, and his worst impulses there would be no general madness is and general callies to restrain those worst impulses in a second term. It would be a wholly different kind of administration and types of in terms of the types of policies that get implemented and the accidentally stumbling into wars that could be quite possible in a second trump term. Wow, you have just made your case for supporting Kamala Harris<\/a> right there very, very clearly. Let me ask you about the call you were on with Community Leaders<\/a> in springville, ohio, in the wake of trump and Jd Vance<\/a> bringing those lies that haitians are eating their neighbors pets. Those lies have led to around two Dozen Bomb<\/a> threats in springfield and it being a target of hostility against immigrants there. What did you learn on that call . I mean, is absolutely abhorrent that we are dealing with again. I want to remind everybody that since 2015, 2016, we now have evidence that when trump would say things on a Campaign Stop<\/a> about immigrants, or about muslims, or about blacks, pick your targeted group, he would say something on the Campaign Stop<\/a> and we would see Hate Crimes<\/a> increase afterwards. And a notorious example of this was the 2019 El Paso Walmart<\/a> shooting, where that terrorist manifesto directly cited language that was being used by the Trump Campaign<\/a>, and he was confronted with that in the oval office. Sir, your messaging, your rhetoric is leading to people feeling that violence is justified. Horrific violence is justified. We need to change the way that we talk about these things. Because, look, if we take it to springfield, ohio, there are some legitimate conversations that need to be happening within this town of springfield, ohio, and within maybe the state of ohio, and it sounds like and we have heard from some local people hey, it has been hard to absorb quite a large number of new immigrants, but they are here legally, not illegally, and they are here and serving in our community this really is much more of a Community Conversation<\/a> about how we welcome people well, and how we make sure that the integration occurs as smoothly as possible. It is a local conversation that needs to happen, not a national average Fear Mongering<\/a> conversation, which we know now is tied to people ending up hurt. So, it is just unconscionable to me, that here we are, yet again, with Side<\/a>nt-trump'>PreSide<\/a>nt Trump<\/a> saying things that will lead to violence, and he has been confronted with that, he knows it, and he refuses to change his ways. She has written a terrific book Lucky Loser<\/a> how Donald Trump<\/a> fluttered his Fathers Fortune<\/a> and created the illusion of success. Before we get into the book, he literally just said that and Kamala Harris<\/a> just agreed to this debate, it came out about an Hour And Change<\/a> ago, he said he is not going to do it because people started voting. What do you think . I am sort of tired of just even trying to make sense of statements like that. A lot of people still have to vote. I think if you really look under that, i would say that the debate didnt go very well, and he seems to be the only one that thinks he won it, and i think he doesnt want to get on the Debate Stage<\/a> with her again. I think she was really effective at getting under his skin. There was one question, obviously, russ and i heard because of our very keen interest in his money, where she was needling him about the 400 Million<\/a> that he inherited, and he came again and he said, that number is wrong. And he dove into his up from nothing, hardscrabble story, i did it, did it alone, and it was just me. Why does he do that . Does he want to say i am a Self Made Man<\/a> . His dad is referenced in the title here. How Donald Trump<\/a> squandered his Fathers Fortune<\/a>. Right, and we have documents and it is through documents that we have from fred trumps finances, we were able to get a hold of more than 100,000 pages of information from fred trumps through it was mary trump, because she had been in litigation with the family and they had gone into discovery. We have been able to document this seven ways to sunday. I think he really wants this hardscrabble story, and it sounds good, right . I did it, i did it myself. And he has even said, it hasnt been easy for me. And then, i think it is effective, and the reason we care so much about it, there is so much more to this book. It really is a super narrative that covers 100 years and hopefully it is quite a page turner. But, the reason why we were really interested in this, because that is sort of the lie that he sold to the american people in 2016, that he created this empire by himself. And it continues to come up, even in recent weeks, during the debate. I am going to get to the Medias Role<\/a> in being somewhat complicit, if you will, in creating him. But, you reported it shows that he lost over 1 Billion<\/a> . Wait a minute, 1 Billion<\/a>, between 1985 and 1994 . Right. That year is incredible or that 10 years when we look at it. Because the Art Of The Deal<\/a> came out that year. That year that he was sent to america, that he was writing a book, that he was the steelmaker, and nobody could touch him, and he was going on shows he lost, that year, i think 40 something million dollars. And in that decade, he lost more than 1 Billion<\/a>. Russ and i were able to we had all of this Tax Information<\/a> from that decade, that was one of the stories that we did. But, what was interesting was because people think, okay, well, businessmen, you know, they lose a lot of money. But, we were able to get access to a Taxpayer Database<\/a> from the national archives, and we went in, and we were able to determine that in a few years, he lost more money than any other individual taxpayer in america. Like, this isnt just some Business Guys<\/a> lose money, like, he loses a lot of money, year in and year out. And you have all the facts to prove this. You have the paperwork, the documents, the numbers add up. We come with the receipts. Yes. Let me ask you again about the media, as i mentioned. The fact is, he was on lifestyles of the rich and famous, he was on 60 minutes. But, once he made The Apprentice<\/a>, which mark produced, he was taking in all of his other endeavors at the time. So, was it The Apprentice<\/a>, that created the man, the myth, the image, that we hold of Donald Trump<\/a> right now, The One<\/a> that permeates still, to this day . How much does Donald Trump<\/a> go to Mark Burnett<\/a> with what he created . It is huge. It is not that Donald Trump<\/a> wasnt on the scene before, he had been on the lifestyles of rich and famous, he got on them because he had the accoutrements of wealth. But, when we think about it, Mark Burnett<\/a>, really in an edited bay with very skilled hands, with producers, they reinvented him. They showed up, these producers in his office, and they thought, you know, they are going to be doing a Game Show<\/a> and working for Donald Trump<\/a> is the prize. They come in, and the carpet smelled, and the furniture was chipped they had to create an entirely new set, but it was more than that. They had to create a businessman that was measured, that was smart. A person that didnt exist they had to do that, and they made him the prize. Their job was to make him look, according to the people that we talked to that were on The Show<\/a>, to make him look like royalty. And one of the fellows said, you know, Richard Attenborough Wasnt<\/a> narrating this thing. Like, it was a Game Show<\/a>. It is unfortunately, college reality tv, but it was not reality. They remade him. Russ and i call The Apprentice<\/a> the opening scene, the greatest political ad of all time.
