Roller coaster election season. Both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump are hunkered down, plotting strategy for their first debate on tuesday in philadelphia. The latest polling from New York Times and Sienna College suggest for all of the excitement surrounding harrisentry into the race in july the race remains a dead heat with neither candidate holding a significant at vantage either nationwide or in key states. Donating millions of democratic candidates to take on maga republican candidates as the state and local level. Joining me now is North Carolina Attorney general the democratic governor. And before we get started to your governors race. North carolina is in the News Week as the Vice President first stop in her Barnstorming Tour after the debate. Polls show a tight race between her and trump in North Carolina. But also in other Swing States. What do you think North Carolina is the vps and we do you think it is the vps first stop post debate. Reporter polls have her up or down a point all within a couple of points and she is going to work lard and win this state. President Barack Obama won in 2008. And, it was the state that most narrowly went for the republican candidate in both 2012 and 2012. So it is absolutely within reach and they are going to work hard to win North Carolina. We are excited to have her come to the state. Now, North Carolina continues its evolution as an e electoral battleground. Trump was just there this week and let me pause one minute we have breaking news. Vice president harris is on the move in the Battleground State of pennsylvania. She is taking a break from a debate preparations. Here she is moments ago taking a walk with her husband. If we get more visuals from the Vice President we will show them to you. Let me go back to the Attorney General. North carolina as i said is evolving as a Battleground State with Donald Trump there just this week. His fourth time campaigning in the state. The Harris Campaign is focusing a lot of resources on North Carolina. Polls show the Vice President is close with trump after biden trailed him there. The latest polling averaged out in North Carolina. The courtesy of New York Times shows a dead tie between Harris And Trump in the state. Both candidates have 48 . How does the Vice President pull ahead in the tar heel state. The reason why former President Trump has been in North Carolina so many times since his convention is that he knows there is no path to election as president in this 2024 cycle if he loses North Carolina. It has to be in the Win Column that is why it is exciting to see Vice President hair competing hard here what she needs to do is what she is doing all over the country. Talk to voters about what her Priorities Arement making sure folks have a real shot in this economy. A Fair Shot to make it to dealing with the rising costs and getting good paying jobs to make sure folks live in safe neighborhoods, that we have secure boarders, all of the things she is talking about will work. Truly is the whole country. And, so we are excited to have her come here. Of course, i am applying for a different job. Applying for governor. I have to make my own case about the choice that they face which is incredibly stark between my opponent, the Lieutenant Governor and me. There is a guy who just fights the Culture Wars that only serve to divide us and Kill Jobs where i have been fighting for people as the Attorney General and before that, State Senator for the past 16 years. And i have a record of keeping families safe, fighting for peoples health care. Better public schools, defending their personal freedoms. The right to vote and womens right to choose. Now, staying in North Carolina which has a ban on abortion in 12 weeks with exceptions for rain and incest. A group just released a call. You just mentioned him in the Culture Wars, Lieutenant Governor mark robinson. Who supports the ban. And abortions are getting down to 0 weeks, robinson has history of inflammatory statements which democrats hope will help their chances down. What is your reaction to this. Preaching in North Carolina and salem and did rallies in greensburg, getting a lot of Feedback And Concern about mr. Robinsons views. He, he, it is so extreme. He is beyond extreme. He is at the fringe of the republican party. He wants a total ban on abortion. Absolutely no exceptions, not for rain, not for incest, not even to save the life of a mother. Dont take my word for it. Take his word. He just was recorded last week saying he wanted to go 12 weeks to 6 weeks and then down to 0. He says for him there is no compromise on abortion. He recorded himself and posted on facebook that women have abortions because they cant keep their skirts down and they keep wanting to run to the club every friday night. If is just despicable and disrespectful. And abortion is on the ballot in North Carolina. If the republican legislature has a republican governor he will sign whatever further restrictions they enact in womens rights, they will be completely at risk. Now, last week Donald Trump addressed a conference of jewish republicans reiterating his unfounded claims that israel was cease to exist under harris precedency. And that israels war in gaza will never have begun had he been president on october 7th. He said this, of course, just days after the bodies of six israeli hostages, including an israeli american, were recovered in gaza. A tragedy that the president and Vice President both condemned. Take a listen. Harris, biden, administration. Cast blame for these deaths on israel. They have not been your friends. I dont understand how anybody can support them. I say it constantly. If you had them to support and you were jewish you would have to have your head examined, they have been very bad to you. As a jewish american democrat, what is your reaction to Trumps Criticism . To say that all jews should believe one thing or another thing is to traffic anti semitic tropes. That is what his endorsed candidate, here in North Carolina has done. Mark robinson has said the most vile things about jewish people. He has said the holocaust was hogwash, he said Black Panthers to take outofpocket, but used a slur. Jews are one of the four Horse Man of the a pock jewish people will vote for whoever supports their family. This race is neck and neck. All is, we need all of the help that we can get. Folks that want to learn more they can go to joshshine. Org. All right, thank you for being with us. North carolina gubernatorial candidate, josh stein. Joining me now, chair of the democratic national committee. Mr. Chairman. Thank you for your time tonight. Lets start with Tuesdays President ial debate in philadelphia. What do you want to see from the Vice President in her Face Toface Meeting with trump . And what do you hope she avoids . Reporter well, rev, always great to be with you. I hope she paints the country for the american people, elections are about a choice. In this election we have a choice between the future and the past. Hope versus fear. Joy versus hate, Progress Verse us chaos. Harris represents the hope of the american people. She knows americas better days are not in the past but in the future and it is that past that trump wants to go back to what he wants to get back to and we know that the past is not always good for all of us in america. We need to make sure that we are investing in this country so the american people, all of the american people regardless of your background, get an opportunity to live the american dream. That is that Opportunity Economy that Kamala Harris is focusing on. That is what she is building right now. And, so, what i hope she does is paint that contrast, focus on talking to the american people, leave all of the Donald Trump nonsense alone. That does not matter. But, also, listen. In these debates and the thing that i learned in my debates with Lindsey Graham is you want to listen. The other side will give you an opportunity t. Is those opportunities, you know well, rev, those are the things that make or break or win or lose a debate and therefore an election. That is absolutely correct. Let me go to this, the Harris Campaign and the Dn C announced last week that they will donate nearly 25 Million to down ballot democrats. 10 Million a piece. Nearly 3 Million for legislative races and A Million a piece to get the state attorneys general. Obviously this is as a lot about the Harris Campaigns ability to share resources after weeks of frankly record fundraising. But, what does the timing and the sheer amount of this donation say about the importance of these down ballot races. Well, rev. This is a continuation of Joe Biden and harris did in the midterms, working with the dnc. We gave over 20 Million to the midterms, how we beat back that red wave. We knew it worked, we saw it worked, so we are continuing that tradition right now to make sure that it is not just about the top of the ticket. If you want to govern and in a way to really get things done for the american people they cant just be about winning the white house, you have to have congress, The House, the senate, you got to have governors, state legislative leaders, you got to have Attorney Generals. So, our focus is that we went up and down that ticket. But up and down the ticket not just the white House Flavment is why we wanted to do this early so the money can be used to build out the Grass Root operations that are necessary. And to give confidence to our folk that we are standing with them in these very, very crucial elections. And i am hearing a lot of that here. I am in houston texas, today. Lets stay with that. The latest fcc filings from The End of july showed that the dnc had raised nearly 317 Million this election cycle. The republican national committee has raised 291 million. Democrats enjoying a Cash Advantage going into last month, this weekend the Harris Campaign reported that it pulled in more than 360 Million in august. Nearly three times what the Trump Campaign reported for the month. And coming from a diverse Grass Roots coalition of nearly 3 Million donors, a third of them giving to harris for the first time. 60 women, and 20 republicans or independents. What do the numbers tell you about democrats financial strength going into this Campaign Homestretch . Rev, what it says, the enthusiasm and the motivation is on our side. A lot of this money, Grass Roots donations, coming from grandmas, grandpas, giving 10 or more here and there. We have more cash but we have a better infrastructure on the ground. Grassroots infrastructure for the last 31 2 years the dnc has been working on Joe Biden, harris, now that harris is ahead of our nominee on building a grassroots operations in these Battleground States. And, rev, these are the same states in the midterm. And, we knew that we could not tear all of it down we had to build it up. Longterm. Now the republicans are trying to open up offices. The one thing we know in politics you dont get time back. Raise more money, hire more people p. You never get time back. We used this time effectively to build build topnotch, that i believe it will be the difference maker. I am really, really excited about that. Now, despite previously working for his administration, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley spent most of her campaign for the republican nomination defining herself in opposition to Donald Trump. Then, she endorsed him after dropping out. But, with less than two months to go she will not say he is a good candidate, only conceding he is the republican nominee. Take a listen to this. Is it the best use of his time and what is the message to female voters to be going through this again . The focus for me is on policy. Always a candidate. I always said i thought Biden And Trump were great candidates i would not have run for president. You dont think he is a good candidate. I think he is the republican nominee and i think put him against harris who is a Democrat Nominee for me it is not a question. Now, do i agree with his style . Do i agree with his a approach . Communications . No. Mr. Chairman, what do you take from her unenthusiastic assessment of her Partys Nominee . Rev, you know, there are a lot of hypocrites in politics. I can tell you that Nikki Haley is one of the biggest ones. You know, there is a person who allowed Donald Trump to demonize her Husband Serving overseas. He called him all kinds of things and this is the same person that believed that trump would not follow the Constitution Of The United States if he got elected president. And now, she is going to vote for him and endorse him . Listen, i understand party politics, but, in The End of the day and standing up to do the right thing. Nikki haley never understood there. She never had core values to do the right thing. But at The Endest day the american people see through all of there. She has but at The End of the day the american people see through all of this. She has shown that she is just somebody who is Try Doing be important in politics and that is a sad Statement And Closing chapter i think to Nikki Haleys political career. That coming from a fellow South Carolinan and our guest from this segment, thank you mr. Chairman of the democratic committee, thank you, again. Coming up, Vice President harris is not doing well with groups democrats usually win. My panel joins me next to discuss what it will take for her to turn things around. My political panel breaks down the latest polling in the president ial race and shares the Debate Night predictions. Inez, let me ask you, youre using Head Shoulders, right . Only when i see flakes. Then i switch back to my regular shampoo. You should use it every wash, otherwise the flakes will come back. Hes right, you know. Is that tiny troy . The ingredients in Head Shoulders keep the microbes th
